Corneal Surgery

  • Corneal cross-linking is a treatment used to slow the progression of conditions that affect the cornea, such as keratoconus. This treatment reinforces the cornea’s collagen fibers and strengthens the layers of cornea to reduce the risk of various corneal conditions.
  • A corneal transplant, called a keratoplasty, replaces part of a damaged cornea with donor tissue.
  • Pterygium surgery removes a pterygium, a benign growth, on the conjunctiva. The surgery usually involves grafting skin from under the eyelid on the affected spot when the pterygium is removed.
